History of Narejo Tribe
Narejo (Singular) and Nareja
(Plural) is the Sammat tribe (Sammat
Tribes are known as the origin of Sindh or actual native of land of Sindh. Old
Sindhi tribes are known under the common nomenclature of Sammat. Narejo (Nareja) tribe people live majority in Sindh and found
other provinces of Pakistan, also living different countries of the world. District
Khairpur Mirs is the majority populated District of Narejo Tribe estimated
approximately between 2-3 lacs, however majority populated Districts are
Larkana, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Sanghar, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Jamshoro,
Shikarpur, Karachi, Benazirabad (Nawabshah), Tando Allahyar, Tharparkar, Badin
and other Districts. Overall population of Narejo Tribe around world is estimated
between 20-25 lacs (2-2.5 million). They speak Sindhi language as their mother
tongue. They are the followers of Sindhi culture and traditions.
There are various theories about the origin of Nareja Tribe. Some believe they were descendants of SANDH BIN PALI who was the Sardar of Samma Tribe of Sindh and Kish. SANDH BIN PALI had seven sons i.e. Jam Hoti, Dairo, Hangro, Juneja, Weero, Jaro and Kaka. Weero had a son called Cheelaryio who had two sons named Samma of Kish and Nareja. According to this theory which has been written at page no 821 of book named Zaatiyan Gi Encyclopedia researched and written by Khair Mohammad Buriro Sehwani, the Narejo Tribe shujro is listed bellow;
Some argue that people were
living in a Village at the Canal of Indus River, agriculture and fishing was
their major source of earning and living and particular that area called NAR
and people of that area were called NAREJA (Nar wara) by the people of other
areas.
Mian Hussain Charan (a famous
poet of Sindh) said a poetry written at page no. 69 of famous Sindhi historical
book “Jangnama” written by a renowned historian Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Baloch, in
his poetry it is expressed that Narejo Tribe ruled from Amari (Near Sehwan
Sharif, Dadu, Sindh) to Kandhar (Afghanistan). Narejo Dynasty period was shown
30 generations as per following poem;
There is need of further research
on above poetry and also information about Narejo Dynasty.
Narejo tribe is under growth
stage instead many people are well educated and working as Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers,
Bankers, CSS Officers, Bureaucrats, Businessmen and also other field of life.
Mostly are engaged in agriculture- industrial arena at rural areas of Sindh.
The SNWO Cultural Forum has been assigned to do further research on the history
of Narejo Tribe which will be upgraded time by time.
